Auf der Suche nach Johnny & June

Unser Radio spielt Johnny Cashs "Jackson" in Dauerschleife und mit Sonnenbrille und Cowboyhut als Pflichtaccessoire kehren wir Lafayette den Rücken zu. Nun sind wir definitiv in the mood for Texas. Nur unsere Augen spielen an diesem Morgen um 13 Uhr noch nicht so richtig mit. Das Bloggen bis nachts um 4 Uhr ist eben anstrengend und hinterlässt Spuren. Während uns der Fahrtwind die Haare durchwirbelt lacht uns die halbleere Flasche Wein vom Rücksitz an, oder lacht sie uns aus? Egal, Jackson wir kommen!

Am Abend erklären uns Ben, Brad und Robert, die wir in dem einzigen Pub, in das man an einem Montag in Jackson gehen kann, dass Jackson, Mississippi nicht die Stadt ist, in der June und Johnny sich das Ja-Wort gaben. Wir sind etwas enttäuscht und wieder einmal fragen wir uns, warum die Amerikaner so unkreativ sind, wenn es darum geht Namen für Orte oder Straßen zu finden. Inzwischen haben wir den Eindruck in jedem Bundesstaat gibt es ein Jackson. Selbst die Hauptstadt Washington DC hat in nur 70 Meilen Entfernung einen Namensvetter. Sehr verwirrend für unser Navi!

Our radio plays Johnny Cashs „Jackson“ in an never-ending loop and with sunglasses and our cowboyhats we leave Lafayette. Now we are definitely in the mood for Texas. Just our eyes are not ready on this morning at 1pm. I see blogging until 4am is exhausting and leaves it`s marks. While the wind is blowing through our hair the half-empty bottle wine from the backseat smiles at us – or about us? Anyway, we don’t care – Jackson we are coming.

That evening Ben, Brad and Robert – 3 guys we met at the only place you can go out on a Monday night in Jackson - tell us that Jackson, Mississippi is not the Jackson, where Johnny said “Yes” to June. We are a little disappointed and again we ask ourselves why Americans are so uncreative when it comes to Names of cities. By now we got the impression, that every state has its own Jackson. Even the capital Washington, DC is just 70 miles away from its namesake Washington, VA. Very confusing for our GPS.
